Five EU-funded security networks of practitioners – DAREnet , FIRE-IN, NO-FEAR, eNOTICE and MEDEA – will organise a live webinar on the topic of just-in-time training applied to their domains on Thursday, June 18th 2020, from 10am to 12pm CEST. In the medical, civil protection and security fields, just-in-time training is delivered to practitioners to allow for the rapid acquisition of specific skills or knowledge when the need arises. Drawing from the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the demand for immediate training of medical staff and other first responders in different aspects of infectious disease management, the webinar will expand on the current and potential applications of this concept response organisations with best practices and methodologies from three speakers with different backgrounds. Luca Ragazzoni, scientific coordinator at the Research Center in Emergency and Disaster Medicine (CRIMEDIM) of the Università del Piemonte Orientale, will present a concrete example of just-intime training at a tertiary referral hospital in northern Italy in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. The European Commission will organise a remote information event on the European defence industrial development programme (EDIDP) on 22 June 2020 from 09.30 to 13.00. Registration is open from 20 May (12.00) to 15 June (23.59). Due to the COVID 19 situation, this event will be exclusively web-streamed.  The EDIDP provides €500 million in co-financing over 2019-2020 for the joint industrial development of defence equipment and technologies in all domains (air, land, sea, cyber and space). It is a test phase in view of a more ambitious EU programme in the next EU multi-annual financial framework. The EDIDP will directly be implemented by the European Commission. What will be addressed? The Commission will present the EDIDP Regulation (highlighting differences compared to the EDIDP 2019 calls) and the topics covered by the EDIDP 2020 calls. We will also explain participation modalities and access to the participant portal. Who should participate? The EDIDP info day 2020 will be a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge about the context, objectives and participation modalities of the European defence industrial development programme.
